Moonves “guardedly optimistic” strike will end in a few months
Although he didn’t provide any details, CBS President-CEO Leslie Moonves believes actions are being taken to end the writers strike “in the next few months.” Moonves, speaking on Thursday at Citigroup’s 18th annual Global Entertainment, Media & Telecommunications Conference in Phoenix, Ariz., also said his network would be “fine” through the end of the current season. Amazon to offer Sony BMG downloads without copyright protection
Amazon.com says the new deal it has reached with Sony BMG Music Entertainment makes it the first digital retailer to sell music downloads without software to prevent copying from all four top music labels. Sony BMG, with the recent launch of its MusicPass service, joined the other three major music companies in selling songs without Digital Rights Management software. Yahoo!/Reuters
