So you’ve heard about the Writer’s Strike, but you’re not real sure why it’s making you watch re-run’s instead of the new programming you were promised? In a nutshell, writers of TV and Movies want to get double the royalty rate they they currently get for DVD/VHS sales. They currently get 4 cents (on average) and they want to get 4 more cents. Yes, I’m talking pennies here. To add insult to injury, they were promised this over 20 years. They also want to get the same royalties for internet streaming and downloading of shows and movies that they get for broadcast.
