Strike or no strike, NBC late-night shows to resume Jan. 2
NBC’s late-night hosts Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien are both slated to air new shows on Jan. 2 for the first time since writers walked off the job Nov. 5, the network has announced. NFL faces breach of contract suit from Comcast
Comcast on Thursday filed a lawsuit in the New York State Supreme Court against the National Football League alleging a breach of contract. The cable operator claims the NFL has been encouraging its subscribers to drop its service on the grounds that access to the NFL Network requires carries a special fee, effectively “destroying” Comcast’s right to put the channel on the sports tier, which the league had agreed to in their deal. “We haven’t seen the lawsuit so we can’t address specifics,” NFL Network spokesman Seth Palansky said. Broadcasting & Cable,  Multichannel News

Vermont legislators want broader NFL coverage of Giants-Patriots game
Vermont Democrats Sens. Patrick Leahy and Bernie Sanders and Rep. Peter Welch, D-Vt., have joined Massachusetts Democrats Sen. John Kerry and Rep. Ed Markey in pushing for broader coverage of the Dec. 29 NFL game between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots. In a letter to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, the legislators asked that he ensure that “this potentially historic final game of the season is available over the air in Vermont.” Broadcasting & Cable
