A guy named Don (who is now my new best friend :) ) wrote a nice comment on my article about the Power of Good Audio for Video. So I went to check out his blog and saw this interesting post about Jaiku being acquired by Google. Now I had heard the name Jaiku before, but didn’t have a clue what it was or what it did. It turns out Jaiku is similar to Twitter in that it is a Micro Blog service but with a lot more features than Twitter. And it turns out there are a lot of tech industry people using Jaiku on an almost hourly basis (check out Leo Laporte’s Jaiku site). So I thought to myself, “I’ve gotta get in on this!” and I immediately jump over to the Jaiku’s site to sign up. Then BAM! I hit a wall. In the time it took me to write this post and do a little bit of research… Google has closed new registrations to the Jaiku service. I’m soooo bummed! :-(
UPDATE - However, I have found a back door where a limited number of users will be able to sign up for an invitation to participate in a continued beta-testing of the service. You have to request an invite code from Google and you can do it here.

I also found this video clip that explains the Jaiku service in more detail:
