Where’s Scott Kelby’s [3D] Head At?

scott3dhead.jpgAt Photoshopworld Vegas this year Adobe had a 3D scanner on the show floor and they scanned Scott Kelby’s head. Then they turned it into a pillow. (Well, what would you do with Scott Kelby’s head? Make it a bicycle seat? Maybe a hammock?) Then Adobe Senior Vice President John Loiacono kicked it (NFL style) into about the 15th row. The person who retrieved it was then supposed to bring it back to JohhnyL and they would receive the entire Abobe Master Collection for FREE! Pretty Cool. But a strange thing happened on the way back to Adobe…

It turns out that my friends Randy and Becky Hufford of the Institute of Visual Arts on Maui had been the lucky recipients of Scott’s 3D head. Being photographers, they immediately began taking pictures with the head… in all sorts of crazy situations. When I found this out a few hours later, I greatly encouraged them (OK, begged and pleaded with them) to take this to the extreme and get as many pictures with as many different attendees and instructors as possible. The next 2 days were a blast! Everyone got involved… and yet Scott didn’t have a clue. Oh what fun I was going to have!

Right before the closing ceremonies, I retrieved all the pictures that Randy and Becky had shot and turned them into a quick music video. I didn’t have much time to do anything fancy and the piece was longer than I would have liked, but I put it together real quick and surprised everyone (especially Scott) and showed it at the closing ceremonies. It killed! People were laughing so hard you’d think we were at a comedy festival.

Now that I’m home and had a few days to catch up from all the chaos of PhotoshopWorld, I’d like to present to you the World Premiere REMIX of Scott, Where’s Your Head At?!

The music I used is from a group called Basement Jaxx with a song appropriately titled “where’s my head at”. If you like the song, please buy it (only 0.89 cents at Amazon). I did! (Music Industry People, please don’t sue me. I’m trying to sell your product!)

    Rod, that is about the funniest thing I have seen in a while. I laughed my A$$ off! Nice to see you are putting your talents to good use. I’ll have to thank Scott for turning me on to your blog. I’m not a video dude but I’ll certainly check in to see what your up to.

    That’s way a-head of its time. Was Scott taking some time to clear his head? What do you call it when a head gets handed around? Pass the melon, please?

    Jeff - I’m glad you stopped by! And yes, I also need to thank Scott for giving me a “shout-out”.
    For being one of the top dogs in the industry, Scott is an incredibly down to earth guy. He is a true friend and mentor and he takes a lot of ribbing from those of us that call him friend. It takes a real man like Scott to handle it with such grace and humor… but believe me, he can dish it out as well as he takes it. He literally shows a Photoshop’d picture of me at Midnight Madness dressed as an Ewok. I kid you not! :-)

    That was howl-larious! You should have shot a picture of a lady laying down like giving birth and had Scott’s head coming out!
